The past Monday Max celebrated his fourth birthday. I still cannot believe that he is four. I really have a hard time with each of his birthdays because on that day I reflect over the year before and suddenly realize how incredibly fast his life is going. Not that I'm no so proud of the young man he is becoming or the things that he is doing, but it just makes me sad that the little-ness of a child goes away way too fast.
That morning before we left for school,
But he was SUPER excited to finally be four. I think to him (and Mommy and Daddy too) that is it the age of official big kid status. On his birthday he took some Little Debbie cakes to preschool to celebrate with his friends. They sang happy birthday to him and gave him a cake with a candle in it. They took a few pictures and printed them off for me which I thought was so thoughtful of them. I picked him up at 1 and he was in such a great mood. We went home for a while to wait for Daddy to get home. At the usual 2:03pm, I looked at him and got a little teary-eyed as I remembered that exact moment four years ago when he took his first independent breath and let out that first cry. A moment I will never ever forget. It was one of few single defining moments in my life that I never want to forget the feelings and emotions I felt at that exact moment. How much he has changed from that tiny little 7lb 7oz bundle.
We gave him his presents from us that evening once Curt got home. We got him a little Batman spaceship toy to go with his Batman cave, a new Wii game called "De Blob", and a Lightning McQueen scooter. Then we took him to get one of his favorite meals at one of our favorite local restaurants, Wick's. When we walked in, we saw my OB doctor eating with her family and she came by to say hello. It was a very surreal moment seeing the doctor who delivered him and handed him over to us on that exact day four years ago.
It was a great day for him! We are having his birthday party a week from today so he's really excited about that!
I did a little interview with Max the day after. I want to start doing these because I think it's hilarious to hear the things that kids say. Plus I want to remember what he sounded like as a little kid, hehe.
Happy Birthday Sweet Boy!
